It’s been a little over a year since blink-182 released their last full-length album, but it looks as though this period of quarantine has been a fruitful time for the band. Travis Barker recently took to Instagram to confirm that blink are gearing up to release a new, full-length album.

News that blink-182 were chipping away at new material has been simmering for a while now, with Mark Hoppus confirming back in May 2020 that the band had begun working on their NINE follow-up.

Anticipation his a groundswell in July when Barker revealed that the band’s latest single, ‘Quarantine’, was slated to appear on an EP initially scheduled for release sometime in 2020.

“We’re wrapping up what we think will be an EP that hopefully will be out by the end of summer,” Barker shared at the time. “There’s a song called ‘Quarantine’ that’s gonna come out really, really soon. It’ll be a Blink favorite. It’ll be like all our fan favorites. It’s incredible.”

That EP never saw the light of day, however, Travis Barker has now seemingly confirmed that a new blink album will arrive this year.

Per Alt Press, Travis Barker responded to a fans comment on an Instagram photo shared on Monday asking if  “any new blink-182 albums” are “dropping this year.”

To which Travis Barker responded, “YES”. We’re not sure whether the EP has transformed into a fully-fledged album, or if there is a bounty of both a new album and an EP on the horizon. All we know is that we’re desperate to sink our teeth into new blink material.

In a Twitch stream back in November, bassist Mark Hoppus confirmed “The EP is now being discussed as ‘late this year/early 2021’ maybe it just becomes an album.”

During an Instagram Q&A back in August, Hoppus gave fans an update on the EP’s progress.

“We’re working on it [the EP] today,” Hoppus wrote at the time. “Matt is going back into the studio with John today to work on new songs. I think we have a tracklisting, we still need to finish these songs [and] get them mixed. We’re a ways away still, but we are working on it.

“These songs are dope. You guys are in for some dope new blink-182 music in, hopefully, the nearest future.”
