Sad news incoming from K-pop world today as members Sunn and Ye Ah announce their departure from rookie group cignature.
Since their debut, K-pop rookies cignature have been making themselves fixtures on the K-pop landscape with their bold music. Despite having limited releases under their belt, cignature have emerged as one of the most promising up and coming girl groups in the industry.
It seems, however, that the group will now continue only as a five-member act.
Earlier today, cignature’s agency J9 Entertainment announced that members Ye Ah and Sunn will be departing from the group. While the reasons for their departure are unclear, a statement from the company specifies that both members had clarified their intentions to discontinue group activities back in March.
“While preparing for cignature’s March comeback, Ye Ah and Sunn stated that they will no longer be active as cignature members. After consulting with Ye Ah, Sunn, and their parents, we terminated their exclusive contract without any conditions.” the statement read.
“We sincerely apologize for delivering the sad news to fans waiting for cignature’s comeback. We are currently doing our best so that cignature can return with new music and performances.” the company said.
With Sunn and Ye Ah leaving, the remaining members — Chaesol, Jee Won, Seline, Semi, and Belle — will continue as a quintet.
