Lana Del Rey has announced she will release a new album Blue Banisters in July, which will serve as a follow-up to March’s Chemtrails Over The Country Club.
In an Instagram post on April 28, the sultry songstress revealed the exciting news that her eighth studio album will drop on July 4 – Independence Day for our American friends – which is sure to give fans something to celebrate.
Posting a simple image featuring the album title, Del Rey captioned the pic with a simple: “Blue Banisters. Album out July 4.”
The announcement comes after LDR hit back at a Harpers Bazaar article titled ‘Lana Del Rey Can’t Qualify Her Way Out of Being Held Accountable‘ that accused her of cultural appropriation, after which she spilled that she would soon be releasing an album titled Rock Candy Sweet on June 1.
“Just want to say thank you again for the kind articles like this one and for reminding me that my career was built on cultural appropriation and glamorizing domestic abuse,” Del Rey said at the time via Instagram Stories, just days after the release of Chemtrails Over the Country Club on March 19.
“I will continue to challenge those thoughts on my next record on June 1 titled Rock Candy Sweet.”

It’s currently unknown whether Rock Candy Sweet will serve as a single for the forthcoming album, or if the album was instead renamed to Blue Banisters – but either way, fans of LDR are a tad confused over the mixed messages.
“Wait so is Blue Banisters replacing Rock Candy Sweet? Or is it another album!??!!” one perplexed Twitter user asked.

Another echoed the collective sentiment, saying: “Album title used to be rock candy sweet … I was into it, idek what a blue banister is tbh.”
Other fans, however, were far more baffled by the “PicArt realness” of her presumed cover art, with one commenting on the Blue Banisters announcement: “I made two covers in like 10 mins and they’re still better than that PicsArt thing.”

Another added a harsh: “Girl this better not be the album cover.”
