Robert Fripp and Toyah cover The Who’s ‘My Generation’

Robert Fripp and Toyah Wilcox are back with another installment of their ‘Sunday Lunch’ sessions, this time with a cover of The Who’s rumspringa classic ‘My Generation.’

Robert Fripp is currently in the thick of a summer U.S. tour with his prog-rock band King Crimson. Thankfully, it looks as though rock’s power couple prepared a couple of Sunday Lunch sessions in advance.

For their performance of the 1965 track, off The Who’s debut record of the same name, Wilcox dons a demented schoolgirl-esque outfit (perhaps in homage to the ‘Oops… I Did It Again’ music video), whilst Fripp cooly wears his classic black suit ensemble.

“This Sunday we’re ‘Talking about #MyGeneration!!!’. Toyah, Robert and Sidney Jake are back with a Sunday Lunch performance from one of YouTube’s most famous kitchens,” Willcox captioned the new video. Check it out below.

Toyah Wilcox and Robert Fripp launched the Sunday Lunch video series in the thick of the UK lockdown last year. Since its inception, the pair have covered beloved rocks tracks by Nirvana, Metallica, David Bowie, Billy Idol, Judas Priest, Sex Pistols, Alice Cooper, The Rolling Stones, Guns N’ Roses, and more.

In an interview with The Guardian back in February, Toyah noted that she started the series after noticing her husband was having withdrawals from performing.

“Here I am in this house with this 74-year-old husband who I really don’t want to live without,” the musician and actor said of Fripp, explaining that she wanted to occupy the guitarist. “He was withdrawing, so I thought: ‘I’m going to teach him to dance.’ And it became a challenge.”

“I do the lighting, the filming, the conceptual side, and the persuading Robert to take part,” she added.
