A judge has ordered for Tory Lanez to be remanded to custody in a hearing on the Megan Thee Stallion assault case.

Tory Lanez was cuffed in court and remanded to custody at the trial hearing for his assault on Megan Thee Stallion, reports state.

At a hearing in Los Angeles earlier today, Judge David V. Herriford of the Superior Court of Los Angeles County found Lanez in ‘violation of discovery protective order and personal contact order.’ He was handcuffed in court and taken into custody, with bail posted at USD 350,000 (approximately AUD 461,020).

After also hearing an argument about Lanez’s tweets for nearly an hour, Judge Herriford also ruled that some of the rapper’s tweets “seem to be clear messages” to Stallion.

A trial has been set for September 14th – until then, Lanez’s release also includes the condition that he is “not to mention the complaining witness in this case in any social media.”

Stallion alleged that Lanez had shot her multiple times back in 2020, after reports emerged that she had injured herself after cutting her foot on glass at a pool party.

“On Sunday morning [July 12th], I suffered gunshot wounds, as a result of a crime that was committed against me and done with the intention to physically harm me,” she clarified in an Instagram post at the time.

According to erstwhile reports by Page Six, Lanez had opened fire on Stallion as she was trying to remove herself from his car following an argument.

“Tory fired the shots from within the vehicle while Megan was outside trying to leave,” a source claimed. “There is video and the police are investigating. This is a case of a man physically harming and abusing a woman.”

Lanez was arrested on a felony gun charge after being booked for having a concealed firearm in a vehicle, but posted bail and was released from jail.

He was later charged with assaulting Stallion “with one felony count each of assault with a semiautomatic firearm – personal use of a firearm – and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle,” as reported in a statement by the Los Angeles district attorney’s office.

This is a developing story.
