Bloc Party front man Kele Okereke has revealed that he’s moving to New York to finish writing a book he’s been working on. He told the NME that he’ll be moving to Manhattan in a matter of weeks, and that “I’m writing a book and I want to go somewhere and finish it.”
While he remained cryptic as to the nature of the book, it is widely believed that he’s been working on a collection of pornographic … errr, ‘erotic’ short stories. Last year he told an interviewer that he was working on an “erotic memoir detailing my experiences with groupies over the last five years”.
One of these yarns was subsequently published in an online literary journal entitled Five Dials. “I’m just finishing a collection of short stories,” he told the interviewer. “By the end of next week I want to finish them all so I can start looking at putting them out. I wrote them in 2009 when we were touring. There’s just nothing to do when you’re on the road all the time, so it’s good to do something to engage my mind. We can expect some totally sexually charged material. We can expect some naming and shaming of celebrities as well. It’s gonna be hot.”
Pass the popcorn, we’re looking forward to a few court cases and public catfights once the lawyers have gone over it and it’s been published.
