LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy has slammed ticket company Stubhub, claiming that they are ripping fans off. Murphy cracked it at them on Twitter for selling tickets to the band’s farewell shows at hugely inflated prices. He said “No matter what we do, it is not worth that kind of money to see us! His further twitterings said: “I pretty much guarantee ‘fans’ aren’t pricing these tickets,” going on to say that the website was “barely legal”.
Murphy further told the website that they could “eat shit”. LCD Soundsystem are supposedly breaking up, with a farewell gig at New York City’s Madison Square Garden on April 2nd. However, front man James Murphy loves fucking with fans and the media, so they’ve also announced four extra gigs at New York City’s tiny Terminal 5 venue from March 28 – 31.
Murphy blogged “I bought two tickets to my own show for three times the value like an idiot to see if real tickets showed up,” he says. “My family got burned. It was, to say the least, weird.” Now he reckons the band are going to “look seriously at the way we sell these tickets”, suggesting they “just want to give people who actually want to see us a chance to see us for a reasonable ticket price. And I want to drop the price of the MSG [Madison Square Garden] tickets.
Murphy thanked fans, saying “don’t let the shitbags win”.
