Halestorm frontwoman Lzzy Hale made history as the sole woman performer at Ozzy Osbourne’s final concert, the star-studded ‘Back to the Beginning’ celebration in Birmingham, England.

Surrounded by rock legends such as Guns N’ Roses, Metallica, and Aerosmith, Hale stood as the only female voice amongst the all-male lineup paying tribute to the Prince of Darkness.

Speaking on Rolling Stone‘s Nashville Now podcast, Hale reflected on this significant distinction with characteristic grace and perspective. “It’s not my first rodeo being the only girl in any situation,” she explained. “At first, it’s a little unbelievable: ‘I can’t be the only one, there’s so many of us out there.’ But you side with the fact that it’s an honor to be there and represent.”

The moment held particular weight given Ozzy’s announcement earlier this year that health issues would prevent him from touring, making this Birmingham show a definitive farewell to his legendary live career. Hale’s inclusion amongst rock’s elite represented not just personal achievement, but a broader recognition of women’s contributions to heavy metal and rock music.

During her performance, Hale delivered Halestorm’s Grammy-winning anthem “Love Bites (So Do I)” alongside “Rain Your Blood on Me”, before paying homage to the evening’s honoree with a cover of Ozzy’s solo hit “Perry Mason”. The setlist choices demonstrated both her band’s signature sound and respect for Osbourne’s extensive catalogue beyond his Black Sabbath origins.

What particularly moved Hale was witnessing the audience’s reaction, especially from female fans. “Looking out at all of these girls, and all of these girls who love heavy metal and rock music the same way I do, and you see so many of them relieved that there’s somebody there — ‘OK, just like me, this is great,'” she observed.

The appearance comes as Halestorm continue promoting their latest album Everest, produced by Dave Cobb. The record represents another chapter in the band’s evolution, building on their Grammy-winning legacy while pushing their sound forward.
