The 1975 have removed a track from their 2022 album Being Funny in a Foreign Language, and frontman Matty Healy has explained why.

“Human Too”, originally Track 9 on the album, disappeared from streaming services, sending fans into an absolute frenzy. A Reddit thread on the song’s sudden absence was full of both disappointment and confusion, since the change was seemingly random.

Some speculated it was a marketing move ahead of a new album, while others celebrated owning a physical copy of the record that still includes the track, which is still live on The 1975’s YouTube page.

It was on that very subreddit that Healy revealed the reasoning for its vanishing act.

“Hey! Human Too was removed from the album so the album is more how I want it to be,” Healy commented. “Previous physical release obviously remains the same.”

He said that a track from the band’s 2020 album Notes on a Conditional Form, “What Should I Say”, might face the same fate as “Human Too”.

“I doubt the same will happen with any other records a I am pretty happy with them outside of ‘What Should I Say’ from Notes on a Conditional Form. So that may also be removed who knows.”

He signed off with: “Sending love, Matty xxx.”

A new Reddit thread began, with fans begging Healy not to remove the track, and in a brief message, he responded with: “Ok no worries x.”

When it was first released, Rolling Stone gave Being Funny in a Foreign Language a 4/5 star review, while Notes on a Conditional Form earned a more tepid 3/5 stars.

The 2022 album is the latest studio album released by the Healy-fronted band. The record featured standouts such as “Oh Caroline”, “I’m in Love With You”, and “About You”.

The 1975 have since released two live albums and their Charli XCX collaboration, “I Might Say Something Stupid”.
