Sixpence None the Richer are finally heading to Australia for the first time, more than 25 years after “Kiss Me” became one of the defining pop songs of the late ’90s.
The US alternative rock favourites will make their first-ever Australian tour in March 2027, with Killing Heidi frontwoman and acclaimed solo artist Ella Hooper joining them as special guest.
The run kicks off at Canberra Theatre on March 2nd before travelling through Thirroul, Newcastle, Sydney, Port Fairy, Tweed Heads, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.

Formed by Leigh Nash and Matt Slocum in Texas in 1992, Sixpence None the Richer broke through globally with 1998 single “Kiss Me”. The track spent three weeks at No. 1 in Australia in 1999, peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became a top 10 hit in 16 countries.
Its second life has been almost as impressive. “Kiss Me” recently passed one billion streams on Spotify, with the band claiming more than a third of those streams arrived in the past year. The song has also found a new generation through TikTok, film and television, and was certified triple platinum in the US in 2024.
Sixpence None the Richer also scored international success with their cover of The La’s’ “There She Goes”, “Breathe Your Name” and their take on Crowded House classic “Don’t Dream It’s Over”.
After years largely away from the road, Nash, Slocum and their bandmates reunited in 2024 and embarked on their first tour in almost two decades, playing more than 50 US cities. That year also brought Rosemary Hill, their first new music since 2012, followed by live album Live at Gruene Hall in 2025.
“We’ve only gotten better at all of our crafts, our specific things that we do. So why would we stop?” Nash said of the band’s return. Ahead of the Australian dates, she added, “I want to come out swinging.”
Hooper, meanwhile, arrives with a catalogue stretching from Killing Heidi staples to three solo albums spanning folk, country and Americana. Her latest single, “Cowboy Man”, lifted from her forthcoming album Overnight Success, was released September 2nd.
Hooper told Rolling Stone AU/NZ this tour feels like a “full circle moment” for a young country girl who admired the band from afar.
“I was a 15 year old girl in 1998 so trust me when I say the massive pop culture moment that was ‘Kiss Me’, had me in an absolute chokehold. The band were beguiling, so big and yet I didn’t know too much about them, being the pre-internet/social media era,” she told us.
“It was just an incredible mega hit of a song that kept growing and growing and didn’t go anywhere for years… not to mention being tied to the biggest teen show of the time, Dawsons’ Creek (I was team Pacey!) and massive teen movie She’s All That! It could not have been bigger. It was a real zeitgeist, so this is a full circle moment for little country Ella who was strumming along and admiring the phenomena from far away.
