Red Hot Chili Peppers have announced that their much anticipated new album will not be called Dr. Johnny Skinz’s Disproportionately Rambunctious Polar Express Machine-head after all, despite revealing that that was the working title back in February. The band – or most likely someone at their record company – has seen sense and decided on the much easier to remember title I’m With You, with the band’s 10th studio long player set for release on the 29th of August.
The follow up to 2006’s Stadium Arcadium is set to be preceded by the new single ‘The Adventures Of Raindance Maggie’ on the 18th of July. In deciding not to go with the working title which was supposedly inspired by a friend’s acid trip, the band will be releasing their first record in 12 years without guitarist John Frusciante, who has been replaced by former Warpaint guitarist Josh Klinghoffer.
The band are set to hit the road for the first time in years with dates at the Summersonic Festival in Osaka, Japan in August, followed by the mammoth Rock In Rio festival in Brazil’s largest city Rio De Janeiro which runs from the end of September to early October. Alas that doesn’t appear to tie in with any Australian festival appearances at this stage, but with rumours of Australian promoters offering massive sacks of cash for the band to grace stages down under; it’s not unreasonable to expect that we could see them on our shores before the summer is over.
