Oh yeah, push it real good! Legendary hip hop pioneers, icons and innovators Salt n’ Pepa are heading down under for a tour as they bring their sexy and sassy R n’ B to Aussie fans. From Grammys to MTV Awards, these ladies have won them all and have not only paved the way for women in hip-hop but could almost be considered the godmothers of females in the genre.
Hailing from New York, Salt (Cheryl James) and Pepa (Sandy Denton), first burst into the worldwide spotlight in the late 80’s with their international smash hit “Push It”, which can still be heard in clubs across the world today. Breaking boundaries and breaking down doors that were once closed to women in hip-hop, the gave females a voice in a completely male dominated industry and transformed the way the music world saw women forever.
Releasing hit after hit including “Lets Talk About Sex”, “Shoop”, “Whatta Man”, “Do You Want Me” and “Tramp”, they are the bestselling female rap group of all time. Twenty-five years into their career, they were the first female rappers to receive a Grammy, and were one of the few hip hop artists to perform on the Oprah Winfrey show.
