It’s the 21st Meredith this year and if that wasn’t an auspicious enough event, it looks like the *ahem* planets have aligned to offer a Lunar Eclipse for the event. Well, to be precise, one planet, a satellite moon and the Sun. Around about the time Grinderman conclude their set on the Saturday night, a TOTAL LUNAR ECLIPSE will take place.
According to organisers, “A lunar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes behind the Earth so that the Earth blocks the Sun’s rays from striking the Moon. This can occur only when the Sun, Earth, and Moon are aligned exactly, or very closely so, with the Earth in the middle. Hence, a lunar eclipse can only occur the night of a full moon. “
According to observers of such interplanetary activity, the “moon will be eclipsed ‘in totality’ for 51 minutes and 8 seconds.” Having the goth overlord Nick Cave and his band of randy musketeers in Grinderman could set off all sorts of strange behaviour and acitivity in the Meredith Supernatural Amphiteatre – release the bats anyone?
