Finally, the new Red Hot Chili Peppers video is here! Ahead of the release of their new album I’m With You, the band released the audio of their new single ‘The Adventures of Raindance Maggie’ several weeks ago and finally the accompanying video is here.
Directed by Marc Klasfeld — who has credits working with Foo Fighters, Kelis, Against Me!, and more — the clip shows the middle aged men rocking out like teenagers on a rooftop against the backdrop of Venice Beach in California.
Watched on by a crowd of fans, front man Anthony Kiedis and bassist flea jump around like kids a third of their age and showing no shame, they can’t help but be in their natural state – shirtless.
The song harks back to the classic Chili Peppers slap bass, but also demonstrates the influence of new six stringer Josh Klinghoffer, who previously played guitar for Warpaint.
The driving yet poppy guitar lines are reminiscent of George Harrison’s guitar playing with The Beatles, and the bass line liberally borrows from that of Paul Simonon in ‘This Is Radio Clash’ but hey, good artists borrow and great artists steal, right?
