In a story so bizarre you couldn’t dream of making it up, it appears a man broke into singer/songwriter Neil Finn’s house over the weekend only to call the police on himself and wait for them to arrest him. These actions have lead the Pajama Club front man to dub the man ‘UKs dumbest criminal’.

According to a number of tweets from Finn’s Twitter account a man attempted to enter his home on the evening of September 24th, but events took a turn for the truly bizarre when the man turned on himself, calling police:

The would-be assailant then proceeded to wait around for the police to arrest him and lock him up for questioning

A few hours later Finn added poetically:

According to Spinner a police constable later made contact with the singer saying the man had apologised for what had happened and “is willing to pay for the damages.” No official word yet why the man tried to break in although we do have a hunch.
