Yesterday was a massive day for the Jezabel’s with their Dark Storm EP going gold, three ARIA nominations and two AIR Awards. Having only released their debut album Prisoner a month ago the band have only gone from strength to strength.

The four piece from Sydney received three ARIA nominations for Single Of The Year, Break Through Artist Of The Year and Best Independent Release, as well as being awarded the gongs for Best Independent Artist and Best Independent Single at the AIR Awards.

While Hayley Mary and keyboardist Heather Shannon have been performing together for a long time it was at Sydney University with the addition of guitarist Sam Lockwood and drummer Nik Kaloper a few years ago that the Jezabel’s came into being. Not long after that word of mouth and extensive play on the likes of Triple J helped to accelerate the success of the band. Despite interest from various record labels the band have managed to release three EPs and their debut album Prisoner independently.

With their current Prisoner National Tour  close to sold out if you didn’t get a chance to snap up tickets you will have to wait until mid 2012 to catch one of the bands celebrated headline shows.
