Adele confirmed the follow-up to 25 is on its way this year. Appearing at a friend’s wedding, the UK singer told guests to “expect my album in September.”

New music from Adele isn’t too far away. With an album due in September, you’d expect we’ll be hearing some singles before too long.

Rumours of Adele’s fourth album started to intensify towards the end of 2019. Then last month her manager confirmed the long-awaited follow-up to 25 would be coming this year. “The sooner the better,” Jonathan Dickins said when asked about new music from Adele. Dickins, who’s managed Adele since 2006, was speaking at the Eurosonic Noorderslag conference in the Netherlands in January.

Adele turned 31 last year and on her birthday she indicated her next album would be called 30. “30 tried me so hard but I’m owning it and trying my hardest to lean in to it all,” she wrote on Instagram. She joked that 30 will be “a drum n bass record” to spite anyone expecting sore reminiscences on her marriage break-up.

Back to that wedding – I’m sure we’ve all heard ‘Rolling in the Deep’ or ‘Make You Feel My Love’ at a wedding before. But imagine hearing them performed by Adele herself, in an intimate setting with no real divide between stage and audience. That was the case over the weekend, when Adele kept it real at a friend’s wedding. Check out footage below.

Adele’s 25 came out in November 2015. The likes of Greg Kurstin, Max Martin, Tobias Jesso Jr. and Danger Mouse made songwriting and production contributions. It was the best selling album worldwide for 2015 and currently ranks as the fourth best selling album of the 21st century. Adele’s 21 holds top spot on that list, with Norah Jones’ Come Away With Me at number two and Eminem’s The Eminem Show at three.
