Grammy award-winning artist Aimee Mann has been penned to write music for the stage adaption of Susanna Kaysen’s 1993 memoir Girl, Interrupted.
In an interview with the Los Angeles Review of Books, Mann revealed that she is “was asked to write music for the stage adaptation of the book Girl, Interrupted.” She continued “Literally right up my alley—it’s about crazy ladies! So that’s very enjoyable. I don’t know when; plays always take forever.”

Girl, Interrupted was adapted into a feature film in 1999. It starred Winona Ryder, Angelina Jolie, Elisabeth Moss and the late Brittany Murphy. Jolie’s role scored her an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.
