Coming seemingly out of nowhere, the partnership of Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner and Miles Kane, formerly of The Rascals, better known as The Last Shadow Puppets, have just dropped their first track in eight years.

The track in question, ‘Bad Habits’, is a slinky but edgy little number that sounds like it should be playing in the closing credits of a neo-noir detective film, right after the villain breathes his last dying breath.

Kane is front and centre on the pair’s long-awaited comeback single, which features lots of cinematic string touches from arranger Owen Pallett, who revealed he was working on the second TLSP album last October.

At the moment, details on the follow-up to the duo’s 2008 debut, The Age of the Understatement, are scant, but drummer James Ford has confirmed the record is finished and “due very soon”. Hopefully it’ll drop before their appearance at Coachella.
