Andrew W.K has garnered a reputation for being one of music’s most eclectic and intense personalities. Bursting out of the early-00s gates of hell with a fervor for partying and a sound and look that literally screamed that he did not give the slightest care was a true artistic statement.
Gearing up for the release of his first album since 2009, the party king has taken to NME to reveal his strenuous air drumming routine.
As an iconic figure who has constantly broken down societal and musical boundaries, the Mr. W.K’s air drumming routine doesn’t quite mirror what your dad would do when listening to Van Halen.
As an admitted fan of “unconventional exercise”, Andrew shared his Napalm Death air drumming routine that he describes as “very vigorous, it’s very strenuous”.
With Napalm Death being one of metal’s pioneering extreme grindcore bands, simply playing along with the soothing sounds of blast beats and hell-summoning guitars isn’t always easy.
Andrew breaks down this barrier by saying that his air drumming routine can also double as the one thing he loves the most – partying.
