Federal member for Grayndler, former Deputy Prime Minister, and crate-digging DJ Anthony Albanese has been announced as the final ambassador for Record Store Day 2017.

Music fans won’t be surprised at Albo’s latest post, considering his guest hosting slot on RAGE, and frequent DJ sets at venues such as Newtown Social Club, and the Corner Hotel to raise money for music charity Reclink.

Albanese has enjoyed a life-long love affair with music. His first record was Elton John’s Honky Chateau, while his most priced piece of vinyl is his copy of Midnight Oil’s first EP Bird Noises.

Albo joins luminaries such as Mark Gable from The Choirboys, Robert Forster of The Go-Betweens, A.B.Original and Catherine Britt in repping Record Store Day 2017.

Saturday 22 April will see over 180 indie music stores around Australia take part in Record Store Day, with gigs, limited-edition vinyl, stalls, and more. Find out more about participating stores here.
