As music lovers, we think we shoot some serious fire whenever we’ve got an ipod and dock in hand, however there’s been a serious problem with a brand of speaker that’s shooting actual fire, well almost.

Apple have just announced a voluntary recall of their Beats Pill XL speakers, offering a refund to customers after the it was discovered that the dock could be a serious safety problem.

The tech company’s official press statement said the following: “Apple has determined that, in rare cases, the battery in the Beats Pill XL may overheat and pose a fire safety risk. The recall does not affect any other Beats or Apple products” it reads, “because customer safety is the company’s top priority, Apple is asking customers to stop using their Beats Pill XL speakers.”

Apple have asked customers who purchased a Beats Pill XL speaker to visit the recall website for details on how to return the product, they have also noted that they will issue an Apple Store credit or electronic payment of AUD$399.99, which is pretty nifty.

If you’re an owner of a Beats Pill but are unsure if your product could be the recalled model, the particular XL unit was released in January of 2014, and can be identified by the Beats “b” logo on the speaker grille and the words “beats pill XL” on the handle, check out the exact description of the faulty Pill here.
