The Arcade Fire have upped the ante in film clip making as the world awaits next week’s release of much anticipated third album, The Suburbs. (That is if you haven’t already downloaded a leaked copy). As we reported early this week, the band are set to stream their Madison Square garden concert next week live over the net in a partnership between Youtube and Vevo. Rather than just settle for getting a mate at film school to make a grainy film clip with jumpy editing, they’ve bought in the big guns.
The webcast is set to be directed by film maker extraordinaire Terry Gilliam, best known as director of 12 Monkeys, Brazil, and creating the animations for Monty Python. Viewers will be able to choose his cut, alternate angles and also to be able to incorporate fan footage as the gig takes place on 5th August, at midday Australian Eastern Standard Time. Providing you don’t get seasick from all the crazy camera angles, you’ll be able to stream it through Youtube’s music channel Vevo.
