The German online retailer www.amazon.de appears to have jumped the gun and revealed that they expect to be releasing a new U2 album for sale on 27th of May. In response, a spokesperson for the band said “As has been widely reported U2 are in the studio working on a new record but no release date has been set.” This seems to confirm hints from the band’s manager Paul McGuinness who suggested that the band would have a new album out in 2011.
The band opened their set in Melbourne recently with an unreleased song and speculation suggests they are busy completing a new album before their rescheduled US dates kick off in May and an expected triumphant rescheduled Glastonbury Festival headline slot in June.
