ARIA’s new CEO, former Second Dan front man Dan Rosen, has defended Sunday night’s ARIA Awards debacle, which has received a massive shit canning throughout the Australian media this week. In an interview, Rosen conceded there was room for improvement, to put it mildly. Focusing on the performances, which were the only high point in a night of subterranean lows, he said: “The ARIAs is about showcasing Australia’s best music acts and I think we did a really good job of that. The performances looked fantastic and all the performers put on a great show.” Unsurprisingly, he admitted that the only way was up. “We’ll do a review and see what worked and what didn’t work and make sure that we focus next year more on the things that did work, and less on the things that didn’t work.” The meeting in which they discuss the things that worked should only take about two minutes.
