Shrouded in mystery, Cults are a duo from New York City, who possibly have been wagging a few classes where they’re supposed to be at film school. Why wagging class ? Well, because they put a couple of tracks up on Bandcamp – they don’t even have a Myspaz page – and well, things kinda exploded. Like The Ronnettes and The Shirelles meeting Belle and Sebastian in a fight over who is the most sensitive and twee, this is undeniably brilliant pop. The band are impossible to find much information about but expect tours to be planned as we speak. Go Outside was their first 7” single, opening with a quote from Jonestown Massacre and Kool Aid drinker Jim Jones and then descending from the sinister into utter aural candyfloss. All we’ve got to give you is a link to an mp3 of Go Outside but that’s all you need!
Check ‘em out live in one of their first performances at the Mercury Lounge in New York City.
