It’s been a few years coming, but now metalcore icons Atreyu have revealed they’re set to return to Australia early next year.

If you’re an Aussie Atreyu fan, you would likely agree that it’s been far too long since the group made their way to our shores.

Having performed at the 2015 edition of Soundwave, fans felt a little spoilt when the group revealed they would be returning just one year later, supporting their then-recent album Long Live.

Since then though, things have been a little quiet on the Aussie tour front. While the band released In Our Wake as part of their 20th anniversary plans, we’d been hoping that might facilitate their Australian comeback.

While nothing concrete seemed to be forthcoming, it turns out they’ve been keeping it a surprise for us this whole time, with Atreyu announcing their first Aussie tour in over three years earlier today.

Kicking off in Brisbane on February 29th, the group will play five shows across the country in as many days, hitting up Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth, before wrapping things up by blowing the roof off of Adelaide’s intimate Jive Bar.

Tickets to these shows are on sale now, so don’t miss your chance to see Atreyu when they hit up our shores in just a few months.

In related news, the band divided opinions last year by claiming that they “invented metalcore”, with frontman Alex Varkatzas stating that the band are to be credited for the now-iconic sound adopted by countless bands.

“People get confused and say ‘you’re a metalcore band’, but we invented metalcore,” Varkatzas stated. “That may sound cocky but I don’t care.”

“We pre-date Poison The Well and Killswitch Engage and all those bands. I’ve been doing this since I was literally 12 years old.”

Whatever the case, catch them when they play Australia in a few month. Check out all the details below.
