The career trajectory of one Shannon Noll is something that would confound any entertainment industry expert, but as the man will surely tell you: this was never meant to be the end, close the book and start again.
Nollsy certainly has. After giving Australia a day that will live on in infamy when he came second in Australian Idol, he enjoyed a brief period of considerable success before receding from the spotlight.
But the internet never forgot Nollsy. After turning him into Australia’s favourite living meme, it basically revived his career, and the ‘Drive’ singer is now sought after for gigs and festival spots around the country.
It’s quite the resurrection. Or as Perth deathcore band Owed To Damnation put it, “Shannon Noll came back from hell.” Inspired by Noll’s revival, they decided to slap him on a T-shirt, albeit in a demonic form.
We know exactly what you’re thinking: best piece of merch you’ve seen this year. Well, we agree. You can get your hands on one for a very reasonable $20 by heading to Owed To Damnation’s Bandcamp page, where you can check out their music too.
