Bad news, festival-lovers, Australia’s newest musical celebration, FestivalX, has been cancelled just two months before it was supposed to kick off.

Back in August, we noted that the team behind Stereosonic had just announced a brand new festival for the Aussie music scene. Dubbed FestivalX, its inaugural edition was set to kick off in Auckland in late November, before travelling to Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne.

Backed by Hardware and Onelove, – the promoters behind Stereosonic – as well as touring giant Live Nation, the new addition was shaping up to be a pretty big deal. Throw in the promise of a huge lineup featuring Grammy, ARIA, and Billboard award-winning artists, and it was looking as though FestivalX was shaping up to be one of the biggest drawcards on the festival circuit.

Sadly, the festival has now announced that it’s no more.

Taking to Facebook earlier today, organisers broke the news to their thousands of followers.

“Due to unforeseen last-minute changes in artist availability, the partners involved in FestivalX have agreed not to proceed with the 2018 event,” they wrote.

“We set out to deliver the very best experience and the compromises to the proposed line-up did not meet the vision that we have for FestivalX.”

At this stage, it’s shaping up be one of the cleanest cancellations out there, with no lineup having been released, and no tickets being sold to the event.

Organisers have asked their followers to keep an eye on their Facebook page for further details about the festival’s future, which seems to indicate that punters might still get the chance to groove the night away at Australia’s newest festival.
