Blues legend B.B. King sadly passed away a few weeks ago, the 89 year-old losing a longstanding battle with illness, however, two of his children have come forward, alleging that King was murdered.
Karen Williams and Patty King have made claim that foul play occurred in King’s last days, believing that two of his closest carers were speeding up his death by poisoning the late guitarist, as NBC reports.
In official affidavits, the pair wrote the following, “I believe my father was poisoned and that he was administered foreign substances…I believe my father was murdered.”
The sisters have reportedly said that the family were kept away from King in his final days whilst his personal assistants Myron Johnson and business manager LaVerne Toney administered poison to him.
Since these allegations have been made against the two aides, a coroner’s investigation has begun, Clark County Coroner John Fudenberg stating the following on the matter, “At this point, we don’t have evidence that these allegations of foul play will be substantiated” he said.
“However, we are taking them very seriously and will be conducting a thorough investigation. We are coordinating our investigative efforts with the Homicide Division of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. I expect the investigation will take a minimum of 6 to 8 weeks.”
According to The Associated Press, attorney’s for King’s estate are calling these murder claims ridiculous, stating that King was appropriately cared-for, receiving 24-hour care and was monitored by medical professionals “up until the time that he peacefully passed away in his sleep.”
With the investigation only just beginning, it’s looking to be at least six to eights weeks before any lucid results can be given.
