Bad Religion have announced the release of their seventeenth studio album, the characteristically political Age Of Unreason.
Over the last year, there has been plenty of talk about when Bad Religion would be releasing their next album. After first hinting at a follow-up to 2013’s True North early last year, the band released their first new single in five years, ‘The Kids Are Alt-Right’.
Following this up with ‘The Profane Rights Of Man’ back in October, it appeared that the new album was shaping up to be a very political one. Now, the group have revealed that The Age Of Unreason is set to be unleashed on May 3rd.
As Rolling Stone reports, Bad Religion’s new album was written as a response to the “perilous times” that America has found itself in.
“The band has always stood for enlightenment values,” explained Brett Gurewitz. “Today, these values of truth, freedom, equality, tolerance, and science are in real danger. This record is our response.”

Back in July, Gurewitz explained that the group have “an album’s worth of ‘Fuck Trump’ songs” on the way. Now, with this new record focusing on a number of pressing topics, including racism and Donald Trump’s controversial presidency, it appears they’ve delivered on their promise.
“When I saw all these headlines about how terrible our world had become,” explained frontman Greg Graffin, “I started doing a lot of reading. I read about the French revolution, the American Revolution, the Civil War, and I started to recognize that this is a pattern of history and something we should never venture into.”
“There are ample warnings against it. Every school child should know this but it’s hard to get people to read about these things. Maybe this album can help. Because right now, with social media, we are just playing a version of kill the guy with the ball.”
While ‘The Kids Are Alt-Right’ isn’t set to feature on this new record, ‘The Profane Rights Of Man’ does appear as a bonus track at the end.
To celebrate the new record’s announcement, Bad Religion have also released ‘Chaos From Within’, a track which focuses on a number of confronting themes, including Donald Trump’s border wall.
