UPDATE 17/01: The Beasts have just announced an extra show, hitting up the Tanks Arts Centre in Cairns this February.

One of Australian music’s most ferocious bands are set to hit the road next year, with The Beasts Of Bourbon reforming as The Beasts for a new album and tour.

Over the last few months, the Aussie music scene was undoubtedly heartbroken to learn of the passing of musical icons such as Brian Henry Hooper, and Spencer P. Jones. Having played in numerous groups over the years, the pair were undoubtedly household names thanks to their work with The Beasts Of Bourbon.

While the group would go through numerous iterations over the years, it was announced back in March that The Beasts Of Bourbon would reunite for a benefit concert for Hooper, who would pass away just a week later.

Now, the group’s members have decided to reform, with a new name, a new album, and a new tour on the way.

Hitting Melbourne’s Soundpark Studio just weeks after their last performance, Charlie Owen, Boris Sujdovic, Tony Pola, Spencer Jones, Kim Salmon, and Tex Perkins got together to try and hash out some new ideas.

What these sessions resulted in was a number of songs that will appear on The Beasts’ Still Here, which is due for release this February.

Consisting of tracks written by James Baker, Kim Salmon, Boris Sujdovic, Tex Perkins, and the late Spencer P. Jones and Brian Hooper, Still Here isn’t an album by The Beasts Of Bourbon, rather a new project that showcases the wild energy and ferocious musicianship that will be so familiar to Aussie rock fans.

While Spencer P. Jones’ work will be heard on the album track ‘At The Hospital’, Brian Hooper’s sudden passing meant that his contributions to the record are limited to songwriting credits for ‘What The Hell Was I Thinking’.

To celebrate the release of this new album, The Beasts will be hitting the road next year, playing cuts from their new record, along with a series of fan favourites.

The Beasts’ Still Here is set for release on February 15th, with their tour kicking off under a week later. Check out all the details below, and be sure to head along to check out some stunning tunes, and pay tribute to some of Australian music’s beloved members.
