An iconic performance from The Beatles performed at Festival Hall in Melbourne in 1964 is set to air on Channel Nine next week.

It was the thick of Beatlemania. The band graced the country for 13 incredible performances. Channel Nine captured the lineup of John, Paul, George, and fill-in drummer Jimmie Nicol —Ringo missed the tour due to illness— inciting unfathomable excitement with their concert One Night Only – The Beatles in Oz.

The performance saw the band work through a slew of beloved fan favourites including ‘She Loves You’, ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’, ‘I Saw Her Standing There’, ‘Twist and Shout’, ‘Long Tall Sally’ and more.

One Night Only – The Beatles in Oz is set to air on Monday, 13th July at 9:30pm and stream of Nine Now. The remastered film is set to include never-before-seen footage.

“56 years later, the remastering of this incredible show will take rusted-on Beatle fans down memory lane and give the younger generation a rare glimpse at the phenomenon of Beatlemania in action,” said Nine in a press release.

On July 7th, Ringo Starr celebrated his 80th birthday. To commemorate the occasion, the stalwart rocker hosted his own Big Birthday Special live stream to raise proceeds for the Black Lives Matter movement.

The live stream saw the rocker acknowledge the legacy of Little Richard, heralding the late drummer as “my hero.

“Let’s say it again: Black lives matter! Stand up and make your voice heard!” he shared during the live stream. “There’s no greater act than any others can make than to stand up and be counted when you see injustice,

“I don’t have to tell you that the Beatles’ early set had a lot to do with the influence we found in American artists. We loved listening to Ray Charles, Little Richard is my hero, Stevie Wonder, Sister Rosetta Tharpe–I saw her live at the cabin–and my stepdad’s favorite, Billy Eckstine. The list goes on and on.”

The live stream saw a slew of appearances from a roster of the biggest names in music including fellow Beatle Paul McCartney, Dave Grohl, Sheryl Crow and more.
