I read the price today oh boy! A hand written lyrics sheet for The Beatles ‘A Day In The Life’ has doubled estimates and sold for $US1.2 million at an auction in New York. The lyrics sheet contains corrections and alternate lines which have been crossed out for the song that concludes the seminal 1967 album Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. The international chairman of auction house Sotheby’s books and music department, David Redden, said “The outstanding price achieved for these handwritten lyrics is testament to the iconic status of The Beatles, John Lennon and especially this song.”
