Following on from the news that the Sydney leg of the national touring festival has sold out for its 21st annual showing, the Big Day Out have now announced the scrumptious details for Chow Town for Queensland, Perth, and Adelaide festival goers.

Big Day Outʼs ʻCulinary Outlawsʼ, Ben Milgate and Elvis Abrahanowicz of Porteno / Bodega, have already rolled out the impressive food lineup for Melbourne and Sydney’s Chow Town, and now they’ve secured another long list of the tastiest names in Australian food, with final 15 Chow Town Restaurants now revealed, along with their local Mayors.

Up North, Jamie Webb from famed Spanish restaurant Peasant, has been named Chow Town Mayor for the Gold Coast. Having earned a reputation in his local Paddington for delivering traditional yet imaginative tapas, the flavours and textures that chef, Jacqueline Madden serves include Crisp Bacaloa with sweet corn and Piquillo relish, sweet potato empanadas with quince aioli. Just some of the menu samplings sure to liven up your festival experience.

Chef Grant Skinner will be providing his marriage of French and Vietnamese cuisine from Libertine, providing a menu of streetfood and shared mains; featuring items like Honey & 5-Spice BBQ Duck Crepes and Confit Duck A L’orange.

Byron Bay’s hallmark Top Shop, and its culinary masters Mike Schamul and Lucas Neumann, will tasty hand held traditions like burgers, hot roasted chicken, and home baked sourdough bread to Big Day Out patrons.

Joel Romo and his JR’s Smokehouse Barbecue will cooking smoky meats, mouth-watering spices, authentic spicy BBQ, and salads prepared by hand; while chef Mick O’Malley at Cabiria will offer a cool range of sandwiches, including classics like the Reuben, the Cuban and Harry’s Bar Egg, as well as oysters freshly shucked to order.

Rounding out the Gold Coast’s cuisine is Frazer Henderson and Asa Boardman, chef and owner respectively of Kettle And Tine, serving up shared food with a French flair like Terrine, white chocolate and rhubarb omelette, and gooey three cheese beignet.They’ve secured another long list of the tastiest names in Australian food, with final 15 Chow Town Restaurants now revealed

Over in Western Australia, Perth Chow Town Mayor goes to progressive young chef Matt Stone of Greenhouse, offering simple yet innovative times like seared rare emu glazed with a delicate almod sauce and turnips, and virgin caviar on toast.

Perth’s premier tapas bar, Andaluz will be dishing out contemporary Spanish cuisine. Chef Scott Alfonso draws on his Hispanic American upbringing to deliver surefire treats like paella with a side of pork empanadas. Snags and Sons offer quality local sausages, fresh baby baguettes and fresh salads made on site, with chef Justin Bell finishing your meal with warm chorizo wrap with a sherry vinaigrette.

If Italian’s more your style, then head to Lalla Rookh, serving up their ‘La Cucina Westraliana.’ In other words,chef Joel Valvasori’s traditional recipes with big flavours, like grilled piadina featuring prosciutto San Daniel, tomato and buffalo mozzarella. Mexico your bag? Straight from Northbridge, El Compa will rock your tastebuds. The owners, two real chicos, are proud to bring you food and drink the way its done in Mexico, and last but not least, a menu of hand-picked goodness from neighbourhood establishment Clarences, and their friendly staff.

Bringing the delicious to South Australia’s Chow Town is Mayor Dennis Leslie, who’s roped in the sweet tooth services of Devour, where Chef Quang Nguyen’s dessert bar brings Peanut Butter Jelly Panna Cotta and a Donuts Sundae, better leave some room.

Non-meat eaters will love Veggie Velo, with chef Manu’s passion for bikes and food coming together in his pedal powered restaurant, creating tasty vegetarian items like haloumi and mushroom burgers. Simon Bryant’s 10 year stint at Hilton Adelaide has influenced his culinary creations like chilli salt and pepper tofu with ginger.

Jules Rydon will help you get your fowl fix with Chicken Baby By the Vendor, with charcoal chicken, sandwiches, wings and more; while the Aaron Gillespie of The Grace Establishment gives you spit roasted pig buns, and the famed Grace Wagyu Cheesburger, which your stomach will forever thank you for.

Sam Worrall knows his food, having worked at famed SA pub, The Kings, the lauded Jolley’s Boathouse, head chef at The Pot Food & Wine, and now – his own little labour of yummy love – Jack Ruby’s, offering “dude food” at the Big Day Out in a premiere before the restaurant even opens!
