Sunshine Coast’s quietly-achieving boutique festy Big Pineapple Music Festival is back after a sold-out 2016 with another whopping lineup of names for this year, once again plucking from the best names in the local rock and electronic scenes, with some other well-chosen genre highlights thrown in for good measure.
The lineup sees headliners like Birds of Tokyo, Peking Duk, Northlane, Safia and Cloud Control pile onto the stage with a bunch of other great acts like City Calm Down, Horrorshow, DZ Deathrays, Vera Blue, Sampa The Great, Alex Lahey and plenty more.
There’s quality all the way down this bill to be honest, with gems like Fortunes, West Thebarton Brothel Party and Gold Member all helping to make the 90 buck ticket seem like a dead-set bargain. You even get The Veronicas, who return after having played the festival last year – we hope they remember the sun-screen.
You’ll also get a generous selection of food and fun, as befits any boutique music festival, including a rather large ferris wheel that shows off the surrounds.
If you’ve got a bit of a trip to make to the coast, you can grab camping onsite at the Woombye grounds for another $40 and make a whole night of it, or just grab some fancy accom from one of the many hotels nearby.
It all kicks off on Friday May 26 and wraps up on the 27th, and tickets go on sale 9am this Thursday through Moshtix, so check out our review of last year’s fest and the lineup below – as well as the festival’s own recap of 2016.
