Blink-182 are set to deliver the first taste of their new album very soon, plotting the release of a new song tomorrow.
For a while now, Blink-182 have been teasing fans with news of their new record. The follow-up to 2016’s California, the band recently revealed that album number eight will be here before the Warped Tour kicks off at the end of June.
However, we’ve been receiving all sorts of bits and pieces in the meantime. While Mark Hoppus noted the new album will go in “completely weird directions”, drummer Travis Barker revealed their new material sounds like their self-titled album.
Now, it seems like we haven’t got that long to wait before we hear a new song.
Taking to Instagram earlier today, Blink-182 shared an image of a graffitied wall bearing both their band name and the phrase “Blame It On My Youth”.
Captioned with the word “Tomorrow”, it seems as though the first single from the group’s upcoming album (ostensibly titled ‘Blame It On My Youth’) will finally be unleashed tomorrow.
Of course, fans are undoubtedly hoping that this new song will be better than the group’s most recent effort, having teamed up with Lil Wayne to perform a mash-up of ‘What’s My Age Again?’ and the rapper’s ‘A Milli’.
In related news, Blink-182 recently gave us a bit of an idea of what to expect for this new record, explaining that the band had recorded 40 songs for the new album, most of which featured something of a darker theme.
“It’s very different to California,” frontman Mark Hoppus explained. “It’s a lot more aggressive. It’s darker in theme and tone.”
“If you like California to Enema Of The State then this album is more like the Untitled record where we are trying to experiment more: trying to experiment more, trying different sounds, and trying to expand upon what people think Blink-182 is.”
Whatever the case, it looks like we won’t have long to go before we hear another brilliant record from the pop-punk icons.
