Blink-182 have found themselves caught up in the midst of a mass shooting in the US, announcing they will reschedule their recent performance in a show of solidarity with the local community.

Over the weekend, the world was shocked to learn of yet another mass shooting in the United States. This time, the latest incident occurred at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas, and has left 20 dead, with 26 injured, and is said to have been motivated by race.

As it turned out, this event had a wider-reaching effect than many would have expected, with Mark Hoppus of Blink-182 taking to Twitter to live-Tweet the band’s experience with being “locked down” in the hotel following the incident.

“We are locked down in our hotel in El Paso,” Hoppus explained earlier today. “Over the intercom system they just announced that there are reports of another active shooter directly across the street at a location different from the first shootings.

“We were leaving breakfast when our security texted that there was an active shooter at the mall we were headed to.”

As a result of this shooting, Blink-182 soon took to their own account to reveal that they would be postponing their show in El Paso that was supposed to take place on Sunday night, just one day after the shooting.

“Following today’s terrible tragedy in El Paso we are postponing our Sunday, August 4th show at the UTEP Don Haskins Arena in solidarity with the community,” the band explained.

At this stage, there’s no word when their new show will take place, but our thoughts are with both everyone affected by the terrible shooting in Texas.
