Yep, it’s the 1990s all over again and Blur are set to make a new record – but there’s a catch. The group who said they wouldn’t record any new material after their reformation shows last year are in the studio recording, but it’s a one off 7” limited edition single they’re contributing to the UK’s national Record Store Day which occurs on the 17th of April.
No further details are available for the band’s first recording in seven years, but other artists contributing to the day include Bat for Lashes, Lily Allen, and Hot Chip. Damon Albarn told London’s Sun newspaper: ‘We want independent record stores to continue. They’re an important part of our musical culture. Music is a simple way for Blur to show our support and we hope people like it.’
Expect these records to be selling on eBay for a fortune on the 18th.
