American record label Waxploitation has announced Stories for Ways and Means, a 350-page book, some 10 years in the making.
Spearheaded by label founder Jeff Antebi, the book is a collaboration between a wide variety of musicians and visual artists on a set of illustrated stories.
The project features 30 songwriters. Including the likes of Tom Waits, Nick Cave, Frank Black of Pixies, Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon, Jim James from My Morning Jacket, Alison Mosshart of The Kills fame, Laura Marling and Will Oldham to name but a few.
As if that was not enough there are a number of guests on hand lending their voices to narrate the short films accompanying Antebi’s project. Including, King Krule, Joey Bada$$, Nick Offerman, Danny DeVito and Zach Galifianakis and others. The full list of collaborators can be found below.
As Pitchfork reports, proceeds from the book will go to three education-focused non-profits: Room to Read, Pencils of Promise and 826. The 3 organisations focus on “advancing children’s causes around the world”. With a natural emphasis on literacy.
Pre-orders for the hardcover book can be placed here, a release date has not be set as of yet.
