U2’s website reports that front man Bono is having surgery on his back in a German hospital. Interestingly, the injury that precipitated the surgery wasn’t sustained while he was trying to save the world, rather he was undertaking ‘tour preparations’. Waving the white flag at encroaching old age, it is now unlikely that he’s be climbing up lighting rigs on stage during the band’s forthcoming world tour. Once the surgery is completed the band will make further announcements regarding tour plans.
