Bring Me The Horizon have revealed that their latest single was supposed to be recorded by none other than the nu-metal icons themselves, Limp Bizkit.
Bring Me The Horizon are currently gearing up to release their sixth album, amo, this January. In addition to it being on track to become their fourth consecutive ARIA number one, the album has spawned a couple of singles, including ‘Mantra’, and ‘Wonderful Life’.
However, if you’ve already been pleasantly surprised by the group’s new tracks, you might be shocked to learn that their latest single was originally supposed to be sung by none other than Fred Durst.
Speaking to BBC Radio 1, Bring Me The Horizon vocalist Oli Sykes revealed that the Dani Filth-featuring ‘Wonderful Life’ was actually written for Limp Bizkit.
“Last year, me and Jordan [Fish] went and worked with Fred Durst on a Limp Bizkit album,” he explained. It just didn’t work out, to be honest. He just didn’t show up most of the time.”
“Lovely guy, but I don’t think he was ready to make an album. I think he was pushed into it a bit, like, his managers and people said ‘These are the guys you want to work with.’ So we gave him all these ideas and I mean it was just bad from day one, to be honest.”
“One good thing came out of it: me and Jordan wrote this riff and I one day decided the tempo and key matched almost perfectly with the song,” he explained. “So we de-Bizkit‘d it a bit, and it ended up sounding pretty sick.”
While the fact that ‘Wonderful Life’ was set to be a Limp Bizkit song is indeed odd, what’s more amazing is the fact that Limp Bizkit are apparently still working on a new record.
As it stands, Limp Bizkit’s last record – Gold Cobra – was released back in 2011. Since then, the band have reportedly been working on a follow-up, the regrettably-titled Stampede Of The Disco Elephants. However, despite four singles being released over the last six years, we’re yet to see any official release date.
Maybe the pairing of Oli Sykes and Jordan Fish with Fred Durst supposed to help speed up the recording process somewhat? Whatever the case, we’ve received a pretty amazing new single from Bring Me The Horizon in the process.
