Bring Me The Horizon have opened up about their recent collaboration with Cradle Of Filth’s Dani Filth, noting the whole thing was a “weird” and “random” experience.

Late last year, Bring Me The Horizon delivered the latest teaser for 2019’s amo, releasing ‘wonderful life’, a collaboration with Cradle Of Filth vocalist Dani Filth.

As it turned out though, the tune was originally slated to be a Limp Bizkit track, with vocalist Oli Sykes revealing it was composed under the pretence of being given to Fred Durst.

“Last year, me and Jordan [Fish] went and worked with Fred Durst on a Limp Bizkit album,” he explained at the time. “It just didn’t work out, to be honest. He just didn’t show up most of the time.”

“One good thing came out of it: me and Jordan wrote this riff and I one day decided the tempo and key matched almost perfectly with the song,” he explained. “So we de-Bizkit‘d it a bit, and it ended up sounding pretty sick.”

However, in a recent interview with US radio program Cutter’s RockCast (via Blabbermouth), keyboardist Jordan Fish revealed the track was not only composed in a “weird” and “random” manner, but that Dani Filth was skeptical about the entire collaboration.

“If it’s really heavy and basic in a section, then [the goal] is trying to find a way to make it so it feels interesting and different in another section,” Fish explained of the track’s composition. “You’re almost trying to fight against what you’ve got.”

“‘wonderful life’ is a real simple riff, and there’s not really much else to that part, so then the verse, I guess, the idea was trying to find some way to make it feel a bit more electronic-like and more of a clusterfuck, so that it’s [a] contrast.”

“That song, it’s just a weird song,” he explained. “It’s not really the most cleanly executed in terms of the arrangement. It just happened to work that way. In the end, I’ve kind of told myself that it goes with the lyrics, because they’re all a bit random.”

“The whole song sounds a bit random with the weird sounds, and it’s got Dani Filth on it, so I guess that one just happens to work in some way.”

However, while Dani Filth is undoubtedly a fine addition to the track, Jordan Fish noted that the band used a rather unconventional message to get the vocalist onboard.

“Oli just messaged him on Instagram — just literally [direct-messaged] him,” Fish explained.

“I think he thought it was a wind-up at first, because he messaged back and said, ‘If this is really you, then yes, I’m up for it.’ He’s a nice guy.”

Bring Me The Horizon recently wrapped up a tour of Australia, and have been teasing some new music on their social media accounts since then.
