There’s a Britney Spears soundtracked musical heading to Broadway. On March 12, renowned theatre owner James L. Nederlander announced plans to produce a brand new musical, Once Upon a One More Time.

The jukebox musical will use Britney Spear’s music to revisit famous fairy tales. The plot will centre around a book club made up of classic princesses Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and more. These princesses all ditch their copies of Grimms’ Fairy Tales to read the feminist manifesto The Feminine Mystique. A more perfect concept has never been dreamt up.

The musical is set to feature 23 songs from Britney Spears’ repertoire, featuring both iconic hits and deeper album cuts. Spears has reportedly been attending the readings before developmental workshopping begin next month.

“I’m so excited to have a musical with my songs – especially one that takes place in such a magical world filled with characters that I grew up on, who I love and adore,” Spears shared via The Guardian. “This is a dream come true for me!”

Once Upon a One More Time is set to preview on October 29. It’s scheduled to open on November 13th and run until December 1st at the James M. Nederlander Theater in Chicago. From there it will move on to New York. The musical is replacing the venue and run dates of Don’t Stop Til’ You Get Enough, the Michael Jackson musical that was cancelled in response to the harrowing HBO documentary Leaving Neverland.
