Bruce Springsteen fans are in for a treat, with the veteran rocker announcing a companion film to his most recent album, Western Stars.
Just under a month ago, Bruce Springsteen returned with his 19th studio album, Western Stars. An exciting solo release, the record scored itself critical acclaim across the board, and helped the US charts feature both Springsteen and Madonna in the top two spots for the first time since 1985.
However, while fans were feeling a little bit let down that Springsteen hadn’t announced any tour dates in support of the new release, he does have good news for them, confirming that a companion concert film to the record is on the way.
As Rolling Stone reports, Bruce Springsteen called into the E Street Radio to speak to hosts hosts Dave Marsh and Jim Rotolo about upcoming plans.
During the chat, the iconic musician explained that he had recently teamed up with filmmaker Thom Zimny to record himself performing Western Stars in full.
“We made a film of the Western Stars album, where I play the record from start to finish along with some other things,” Springsteen began.
“We knew we weren’t going to tour, so I was looking for a way to get some of the music live to an audience and so we figured that was the best way to do it. We’re looking forward to getting it to the fans when we can.”

Elsewhere, Bruce Springsteen explained that while he was fond of the Western Stars record, the audience response was better than he had anticipated.
“I thought the record was a little off to the left and I really didn’t know quite know what kind of response it was going to get, he explained. “But just walking around and talking to fans on the street and seeing how the record was received was very exciting.
“It made us look how for we can further that experience for the fans without going out and playing live right now because I’m still working on some other things.”
Wile Springsteen didn’t confirm what else he has on the boil, this interview does come just weeks after he revealed that a new album and tour from the E Street Band would be on the way for 2020.
There’s no word yet as to when we’ll receive the Western Stars companion film, but fans are undoubtedly eager to see the legendary musician offer up a fresh take on his new tracks.
