Melbourne’s Josh Simons (lead vocals, guitar and piano), Luke Shields (guitar), Miles de Carteret (bass) and Tom Crimmins (drums) are Buchanan, and after honing their craft and recording their first full-length, the band are ready to tackel venues along the East Coast this June/July.

Hitting the road to promote their debut album, Human Spring, the tour kicks off at Melbourne’s John Curtin Hotel on 6th June, then moves through to Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Sydney before wrapping up with another hometown show at The Workers Club.

“We’re incredibly excited to be taking this album on the road and to cities we’ve never played before as a band,” says lead singer Josh Simons. “The recorded versions of our songs have a lot going on, so for the live show we tore it apart, and honed in on what made each song special, building it back up from there. It’s a very energetic show!”

The new single and album title track, ‘Human Spring’ has been getting some positive recognition in the music industry after being championed by Triple J and many other leading community stations around Australia. “Human Spring was one of the first songs written and in hindsight really is one of the centerpieces of the album. It certainly shows the album’s worth of colour in one song,” explains Simons.

Co-produced by Simons and Catherine Marks (Foals, Death Cab for Cutie, Interpol, Kanye), Human Spring – Buchanan’s debut album – was recorded across seven different studios, with the bulk of the work done between Tender Trap studios in Northcote and Simons’ home garage studio.

“I really wanted to evolve past the DIY production of our first couple of EPs,” explains Simons. And what better way to step it up than to have it mixed on an analogue desk by Andy Baldwin (Bjork, Midnight Juggernauts) and mastered by Geoff Pesche (Radiohead, Coldplay, LCD Soundsystem) at the world famous Abbey Road Studios.
