Charlatans drummer Jon Brookes, who recently collapsed on stage in Philadelphia and was diagnosed with a brain tumour, may return to playing live with the band as soon as six weeks time. Singer Tim Burgess has suggested in an interview with BBC Newsbeat that Brookes may be back behind the kit in time for the band’s Australian Tour in November. “He wants to go to Australia, which is in six weeks time,” he said. “I think that’s the most realistic way to look at everything.” The Charlatans currently have The Verve’s former drummer Pete Salisbury banging the drums as a temporary replacement.
