It goes without saying, we are so proud of Stella Donnelly. Not only has she been making waves here in here hometown of Australia, but overseas as well.

Recently, she performed a handful of songs for KEXP, a Seattle radio station specialising in alternative and indie rock.

KEXP also prides itself on its video recordings of live performances, with a rather impressive 1.8M following on YouTube.

In the performance, Stella performs four songs intertwined with interviews with usual spectacular host, Cheryl Waters.

All four songs titled ‘Old Man’, ‘Watching Telly’, ‘Beware of the Dogs’ and ‘Tricks’ come from her recently released album Beware of the Dogs.

With her usual beaming smile over unsettlingly real and mischievously crafted lyrics, these live performances are without a doubt the best we’ve seen this year.

When asked about how she mixes “breezy” soundscapes with intense lyrics, Stella responded:

“In my lyrical content, I can be quite harsh and real and I try not to hold anything back, but then I try and create a more inviting sound instrumentally and sonically around that to lure you in and get you with the lyrics.”

It’s been a long time coming for Stella, who has been on the overseas radar for quite some time now.

Her new album has already seen widespread critical acclaim all across the world, and we couldn’t be happier.

Similarly to her fresh KEXP performance, Stella also performed for NPR Music’s iconic Tiny Desk Concert series, the video being released earlier this year.

In the performance, Stella offers up a similarly raw and vulnerable side to the songs we’ve grown to know and love.

We can’t wait to see what she does next.
