Childish Gambino’s Australian tour has been cancelled, just days away from when it was supposed to kick off.

Back in June, Donald Glover’s Childish Gambino project was announced as the headlining act for Canberra’s Spilt Milk Festival. Thankfully, Aussie fans were treated to news of a headline tour as well, with Glover later confirming his upcoming shows would be his last under the Childish Gambino name.

However, fans became worried last month when Childish Gambino was forced to cut short a show during his US tour, with an injured foot being cited as the reason.

While speculation swirled that this could affect his upcoming Aussie dates, everyone’s worst fears have now been realised, with Live Nation breaking the news on Twitter this morning.

“Childish Gambino has been forced to cancel his upcoming AU Tour due to a foot injury he sustained at a Dallas concert last month,” Live Nation explained. “We are working to try and reschedule the dates. All further updates will be available via Live Nation website and social media.”

Childish Gambino also shared a brief statement explaining his situation, noting: “I’m not ready to put on 100% shows. Apologies to the fans. I will be back soon”

Likewise, Canberra’s Spilt Milk Festival also addressed the cancellation, explaining that they are “devastated”, and will be announcing “an exciting line up addition shortly” to make up for Glover’s absence.

At this stage, there’s no word as to when Childish Gambino will be able to reschedule his Aussie dates, but it seems as though it may not be until the new year. His recently-cancelled US dates have been pushed back to mid-December, meaning it’s likely that Aussie fans will have to wait until 2019 to wave goodbye to Donald Glover’s highly-popular musical project.
