Christina Aguilera spent the night sobering up in a West Hollywood clink after being done for being drunk in public. Cops had pulled over a car driven by her new boyfriend Matthew Rutler at 2:45am and decided to take her in to custody for her own safety despite her having a blood alcohol reading of only 0.09 – what a lightweight! LA County Sherrif’s Office spokesperson Steve Whitmore told enquiring reporters “She was not capable of taking care of herself.”
While saying that the ‘Beautiful’ singer and purveyor of raunchy arse chaps was not entirely misbehaving, it was a ‘public safety issue’. “She was not belligerent in any way,” he says. “We have no desire to prosecute.” Sources say she was “extremely intoxicated” and indeed “unable to take care of herself,” but authorities let her out the back entrance of the lock up – no doubt with a massive hangover – at 7:30 am to avoid the paparazzi waiting outside.
